Capture Festival- City of Richmond
"Objects given to my mom because she is Asian" was selected for the Lansdowne Canada-line Station in conjunction with Capture Photography Festival and City of Richmond Public Art and the Richmond Art Gallery.A new iteration will be displayed for a year installed in March 2022. "The objects themselves convey the complexity and layers of the racial gifting. This project points to the challenge of belonging and yet a sense of not always being accepted. Additionally, my artwork presents the viewer with the challenge of having to unpack their own discriminations and perspectives. Within the diverse culture of people who live in Richmond, and within Canada, questions are raised within this dichotomy about a sense of belonging and of being stereotyped within a country that many have resided in for many generations." |
